The Sweet Life

I don’t like a lot of sweet things but chocolate is one that I cannot pass up on, especially dark chocolate.  Its not as sweet as milk chocolate which is what I prefer and it has many benefits too.  How can something so sweet and delectable have health benefits?  It’s true, dark chocolate has been proven to reduce blood pressure, decrease bad cholesterol and increase blood flow in arteries and the heart.  Dark chocolate is known for being sophisticated and refined.  It’s robust flavour makes it stand out and is a great ingredient to use in desserts and baking.  I love tossing some dark chocolate chips into my cookie batter or how about dark chocolate covered strawberries . . . YUM!  Not sure if you’re ready to make the switch from milk chocolate to dark chocolate?  Laura Secord has dark chocolate available from 50 percent to 85 percent cocoa to better suit your taste.  They also have fondue available in dark chocolate which is great for entertaining and to slowly get you friends and family to convert to the dark side.

Enjoy a few pieces of dark chocolate with a cup of coffee or a glass of red wine for an ultimate pairing experience.
