The Gluttony Show: Opening Reception

On Tuesday September 19th, the Cloverdale Common hosted the opening reception of The Gluttony Show. What is the Gluttony show you ask?  The show looks to explore our relationship with the food we eat and our behaviours surrounding food consumption. It poses the question of ‘what is the cost of our appetites’ and ‘how does our pursuit of pleasure affect us, our bodies, and the world we live in’?

The members of Arts Etobicoke were invited to submit various pieces of artwork that responded to the theme of ‘gluttony’— however they so choose to interpret it. A selection committee then chose the piece they thought best represented ‘Gluttony’ and awarded a grand prize. Congratulations to our award winner, Pat Rice who’s piece ‘Trash Bear’ took home the $500 grand prize. An Honorable mention goes out to Sarah Leonard who’s piece “Just One More’ took home the runner up prize of $200.

The Gluttony Show runs until November 21, 2019.  All of the art is priced for sale and the proceeds go directly to the artists!
