The Elevation of Lemonade

You know the saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”?  When something happens that’s generally not great, you can turn it into something good.  But how about going even further, and turning what’s good into something even better?  Metro has some flavorsome lemonade recipes that’ll have your family salivating for more!  Zesty tip #1:  In any recipe where it calls for “freshly squeezed lemon juice”, substitute it with Selection Lemon Juice Concentrate, to make it more user-friendly.  See?  We are already trying to make life a little more easier!

Tropical Dragon Fruit Lemonade
Take a sip of the tropics with this vibrant lemonade.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup (250 ml) Irresistibles real lemonade
1 cup (250 ml)
Irresistibles tropical dragon fruit blend

PREPARATION:

In a blender add:
Irresistibles Real Lemonade and Irresistibles Tropical Dragon Fruit blend Blend well.
Enjoy as a mocktail or add a splash of vodka.
For a smoother texture, use a strainer to remove any bits.

Grapefruit Lemonade
The blend of sour grapefruit and tart lemons gives a citrusy boost to your day.
Zesty Tip #2:  Add a sprig of rosemary to not only garnish your zesty drink, but it also decreases inflammation and is a good source of antioxidants.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup (250 mL) sugar
2 cups (500 mL) water
2 ½ cups (625 mL) freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 14 lemons)
2 cups (500 mL) freshly squeezed grapefruit juice (about 3 large grapefruit)
1 grapefruit, halved and cut into thin slices for garnish

PREPARATION:

In a large bowl, prepare an ice bath.
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water.
Stir well and set over medium-high heat.  Bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, until all of the sugar has dissolved, about 10 minutes.
Pour the sugar syrup into a medium bowl and set the bowl in the ice bath to cool.  Syrup should yield 2½ cups (675 mL).
When ready to serve the beverage, combine the lemon juice, grapefruit juice and sugar syrup in a medium pitcher.
Add the grapefruit garnish and fill the pitcher with ice cubes.
Serve immediately.

Whipped Creamy Lemonade
Fluffy whipping cream, velvety condensed milk, tangy lemon juice and crushed ice? Yes, please!

INGREDIENTS:

⅓ cup (85 ml) whipping cream, chilled
2 tablespoons (30 ml) lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1 teaspoon (5 ml) lemon zest
¼ cup (65 ml) Selection sweetened condensed milk
1 ½ cups (375 ml) crushed ice

PREPARATION:

In a small mixing bowl using a whisk, whip the cream to soft peaks.  Set aside 2 tablespoons.
Add the remaining whipped cream to a blender followed by the lemon juice, lemon zest, condensed milk & ice.  Blend until smooth.
Transfer to a serving glass, top with reserved whipped cream & garnish with a slice of lemon.  Enjoy!
