Show your Furry Friends Some Love

Posted on: April 11, 2023

April 11 is National Pet Day in Canada.  If you’re a pet owner, I know there’s not a day that goes by that you don’t celebrate your animal buddy!  The love for—and from your animal is also good for your health.  Interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure.  Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and boost your mood.

National Pet Day was founded by Colleen Paige, an animal welfare advocate and pet and family lifestyle expert, in 2006 to not only celebrate the joy pets bring to us, but she also wanted to bring attention to the ongoing needs of many pets of all kinds waiting in shelters to be adopted.  Psssst!  If you are looking to adopt check out the Etobicoke Humane Society,  it’s their mission to protect, care for and advance the welfare of animals.  They also rely entirely on donations and fundraising efforts.  Check out ways to support!

Show your pet some love by picking up some pet-friendly treats and supplies from the Nice Paws Collection at Kitchen Stuff Plus:

So hug your doggie, bond with your bunny, and surprise your kitty with some cuddles—and some new treats!  Also, make sure to tag @cloverdalemall to show us your furry companion.

Happy National Pet Day!
