Jet Set Skin

Summer is one of my favorite seasons and always gets me excited.  The traveling and the beach holiday destinations are what these few months are all about.  Flying off to tropical beaches and sunbathing on white sand is the summer dream.  Sunny thoughts aside, travelling can take quite a toll on our skin, especially on long haul flights.  Here’s a guide on how you can find all the products you need at Winners to take care of your skin while you are thousands of feet up in the air.

Before you curate your travel skin care routine, you will need to prep your skin for the flight.  Cabin air can leave your skin feeling parched especially if you have a longer flight.  I would avoid wearing makeup for those longer flights and focus on keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated before you get on board.  Throw on a hydrating sheet mask and finish off with a super moisturizing face cream to lock in the moisture.  Look for hyaluronic acid in the ingredients as this potent ingredient can hold 1,000 times its own weight in water, making it excellent for keeping your skin hydrated.

As much as you may want to bring your whole skin care collection while travelling, stick to just the essentials.  It can be tricky packing products as airports restrict the amount of liquid you can bring on board and we definitely don’t want airport security to confiscate your favourite skincare products.  You can opt for travel sized products or use little containers to store your favourite products in.  Before you apply anything to your face, you want to make sure you are starting with a clean base.  Cleansing wipes are easy to pack and they can help remove traces of dirt and makeup.  I suggest carrying a facial mist not only when you’re travelling but wherever possible.  A hydrating mist will refresh your skin when your are on the go.  I personally look for mists with calming ingredients such as aloe vera to help calm my skin from any  irritation caused from heat, pollen, low humidity and allergens.  If you are on a long flight, sheet masks are your best friend.  They are light and easy to carry and will leave you stepping off the plane with glowy skin.  Last but not least, remember to bring sunscreen.  You may not be outdoors but that doesn’t mean you have escaped the sun’s rays, especially if you have booked a window seat.

Protect your skin and bon voyage!
