Instant Meals, Instant Yum!

Posted on: October 18, 2020

My love for food and cooking fuels me in the kitchen and makes the process of preparing yummy meals that much more fun and almost therapeutic.  As much as I love to try new recipes and venture out of my comfort zone and learn something new, there are moments when I don’t have much time on my hands and need to whip something together in minutes.

A few month back I was gifted a programmable pressure multi-cooker.  I had heard how great they are and how they can make life easier in kitchen, but I had never got around to getting one for myself.  Thankfully someone else made the decision for me and it has been life changing.  First of all it replaced my rice cooker, pressure cooker and slow cooker, meaning more space in the kitchen.  Coming home after a long day and standing in the kitchen, watching over a pot on the stove is the last thing I want to do.  Now I come home dump all my ingredients in the pot, turn it on and let it cook itself.  I now take that time to unwind and relax, often taking a hot bath to de-stress, knowing that when I step out dinner is ready!

Depending on the version you choose this one appliance can combine the functions of a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, sauté, and warmer.  Think it can’t possibly get any easier?  A tip I have for you is to meal prep.  Place all your ingredients in a freezer bag and store in the freezer.  This way you can have your meals ready for the next week, 2 weeks or even 3 weeks in advance.  Too tired to cook after work or busy helping the kids help with their homework?  Just take one of these freezer bags out and empty the contents in the pot and a hot meal will be ready in no time.

Head over to Kitchen Stuff Plus to pick one up for yourself, I recommend the Ricardo 10-Function Programmable Pressure Cooker.  Afterwards stop by Coles and check out their cookbooks for quick and easy recipes that you can use with your new cooker, such as  Dinner In An Instant by Melissa Clark or The Modern Multi-Cooker Cookbook by Jenny Tschiesche.

Happy Cooking!
