With the FIFA World Cup kicking into full gear, what better way to enjoy the Canada Day long weekend than to host a World Cup party.  Gather and entertain the whole gang with cold bevies, delicious food and a great game cheering on your favourite team.  Now, everyone knows, a party involving sports is not complete without chicken wings, after all it’s essential World Cup game food.  Make these savory wings that will score major points with the whole gang.

Chicken Wings with Spicy Salsa (recipe courtesy of Metro)

Ingredients:

24 fresh chicken wings
2 tbsp. (30 ml) extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp. (30 ml) cider vinegar

Spicy Salsa:

2 tbsp. (30 ml) peanut oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tsp. (5 ml) Harissa sauce
1 red potato, chopped
2 tbsp. (30 ml) cider vinegar
2 tomatoes, peeled, seeded and diced
1 cup (250 ml) peeled, finely chopped cucumber
salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the barbecue to medium heat.
  2. On a sheet of oiled aluminum foil, place chicken wings.
  3. Ina  glass bowl, mix olive oil and cider vinegar together.
  4. Baste wings with the sauce.
  5. Barbecue wings 5 to 7 minutes, turning them frequently.
  6. In a glass bowl, mix all hot salsa ingredients together and serve with wings.
