Cloverdale Common Engagement Ambassador Program

February 2019 – Ongoing

A robust community engagement program is central to the Cloverdale redevelopment proposal.  In addition to having an online presence, it was clear that an on-site physical location in the mall was critical for seeking community feedback.  The Cloverdale Common opened for full-time hours in February 2019 and since has been open 30 hours per week.

Staffing the Common are the Engagement Ambassadors – fourth year Ryerson University School of Urban and Regional Planning students.  The Ambassadors are available during the Common open hours to answer questions and share updates about the Cloverdale redevelopment project.  The Ambassadors’ are an ongoing information resource for stakeholders, engaging with visitors and community partners to answer questions, address concerns, and collect ideas that could help shape the redevelopment.

The Ambassadors support community meetings, workshops, charettes, installations, and events, as well as documenting stakeholder feedback. The program also includes mentorship opportunities with the design team and QuadReal Property Group team. The Program to date has had 10 Ambassadors participate in the program, which runs part-time and concurrent with their studies.
