Apple Obsessed Thanksgiving!
Posted on: October 6, 2023
Yes, it seems that for the past several years a certain “spice” has been taking over our seasonal menus. But this Fall, I’ve noticed a shift back towards an appealing classic: Apples!
Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Gala, and McIntosh, all available at Metro, have seem to come back to the forefront of our palate as of late. So, why not create some sweet and savory apple-infused dishes to add to all parts of the Thanksgiving menu! We’ve got #allyouneed with Metro‘s recipes and Kitchen Stuff Plus‘ kitchen tools!
Let’s start with the appetizer, shall we? Metro’s delish Apple Bruschetta recipe is a must try! A mix of Cortland and Granny Smith apples, sweet green pepper, apple jelly, garlic, coriander, and scallion, tossed with cider vinegar and olive oil and served on toasted sliced of baguette.
Next on our ‘Apple Obsessed Thanksgiving’ menu is Leek & Apple Tart. Your family is going to love this blend of chopped pancetta, leeks, apple and zucchini on a pastry dough crust. Make sure to core the apples use OXO Good Grips Apple Corer available at Kitchen Stuff Plus. The stainless steel corer glides easily though an apple to remove the core cleanly, and the core is easily removed from the tool with a simple shake.
The star of Thanksgiving is of course the turkey. This year instead of a whole, large-sized turkey, create a Rolled Apple-Stuffed Turkey Breast. This dish is not only a-peel-ing to the eye but results in a golden and flavourful roasted turkey breast stuffed with sautéed onion, celery, apple, breadcrumbs and a mixture of apple juice, wine and curry powder. Don’t forget to garnish with additional apple slices when done.
A great match is always pork and apples. Metro’s Pork Tenderloin with Apples recipe is a great option for those that want a second meat protein on their plate. Browned onions, potatoes and apples with apple jelly, apple juice, fresh thyme and chicken concentrate poured over a cooked tenderloin.
For breakfast make the ultimate apple dish—Rum Pancakes with Caramelized Apples. Metro knew what they were doing creating this recipe of Cortland apples caramelized with maple syrup and rum served over pancakes. To save time prepping the apples use Kitchen Stuff Plus’ Starfrit 3-In-1 Pro Fry Cutter and Cuber. It cubes and slices in seconds!
Hope these apple-infused recipes make your Thanksgiving a sweet and memorable one. Be sure to tag @cloverdalemall with your favourite apple dishes.
